There are two common different types of airsoft Tommy guns on the market with both using different clips. Whether it is a drum clip or a standard clip it helps to look into these two types of clips when looking into these guns.
One of the most popular types of airsoft Tommy guns is the classic “Chicago Typewriter” gun. This gun will feature a drum clip. This is a cylindrical clip that will go right in front of the trigger on the gun. A typical drum clip can handle at least five hundred BB pellets. It can also be wound up to where it can get multiple magazines of ammo loaded. A typical one of these clips can handle eight rotations with thirty BB’s stored in each rotation.
The other type of clip that is used is a standard clip for the M1 Thompson type of Tommy gun. This gun uses a longer clip that is also placed right in front of the trigger.
This clip is smaller than the Chicago Typewriter clip in that it can handle about four hundred pellets and can load magazines that can shoot out more than twenty BB’s at a time. The metallic build of this clip makes it very durable.
Reloading can be very easy to do with either of these clips. The clip can be removed from the gun and new BB pellets can be loaded into the clip. The clip will then be moved back into the gun. This is a very easy way of how this can be loaded.
Also, both of these options can handle both 0.12g and 0.2g BB pellets. This means that both options are versatile in that they can handle the two most commonly used types of ammunition for an airsoft Tommy gun.
